The Ark: My Museum of Collections

For this project we were to create a fictitious museum of collections, a logo for the museum, and also an exhibit. For mine I chose to title my museum “The Ark.” My idea behind the name was referring back to the ark in biblical times. That was truly the first collection. I wanted the logo to mimic the A in Ark but also be deconstructed down a little bit. For my collection I chose to showcase my collection of black cat items. I have collected these items since 2001. What started me in collecting these items was my cat that I have had since I was 10. As he got older I wanted to collect these objects as a homage to how he has touched my life. For the layout I wanted it to have a very clean feel and be very legible.
My Collection
After thinking about it for a long time I decided I am going to use my collection of black cat items. It all started when I saw this campaign for a character named Emily, who had a black cat. She was the exact same as me, though I adopted my cat when I was 10 years old. So perhaps I am the original emily the strange. Anyway, I love to collect black cat items now because my awesome cat is turning 16 and like all things, one day he will have to pass away. In some way the items I collect are a testament to the bond we have created over the years.
I’m thinking maybe calling my collection Lucky Black. Black cats have the stereotype of being unlucky or designs strictly for halloween. I don’t care much for that, I think black cats should be a part of design all year round.
